In 2024, the Regional District initiated a review of its regulatory approach to short-term rental accommodations (currently referred to as "vacation rentals" in the Regional District's land use bylaws) in response to recent provincial legislative changes (i.e. Short Term Rental Accommodations Act).

As a result of this review, it was identified that a preferred approach to regulating short-term rental accommodations in Areas "A", "C" and "E" was through the introduction of a new "Short-Term Rental Permit" and, in the case of Electoral Areas "A" and "E" that this be augmented by the issuance of buisiness licenses for such uses.

In support of this approach, the following bylaws have been identified as requiring amendment:

• Electoral Area “A”, "C" & “E” OCP Bylaws
• CAO Delegation Bylaw
• Fees and Charges Bylaw
• Development Procedures Bylaw
