Naramata Water System

Overview

Water is pumped from Okanagan Lake (known as a surface water source) to the treatment Plant where it undergoes Ultra Violet Light (UV) treatment to neutralize waterborne pathogens including chlorine resistant organisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. It is then chlorinated using sodium hypochlorite as a second level of disinfection and protection within the distribution system.
